Burger and Linda Koekemoer owners of Syferfontein Safaris

ABOUT
Syferfontein was bought by our father, Sakkie Koekemoer in 1973. In 1998 it was time for the younger generation to take over the catlle farming operation in addition to crop farming. After planting maize and sorghum for 22 years, we hung up our ploughs and turned the family cattle farm into a game ranch. At present 14 species of game are available for hunting on 4300 Hectares.
Game ranching is combined with Meatmaster and Damara sheep farming. The Meatmaster is an indigenous breed - a cross between the Dorper and the Damara. The Damara has a thick, fatty tail and therefore its meat ideally supplements venison.
At present we run a certified game abattoir and processing unit where your meat can be turned into the traditional biltong and dry wors, as well as delicacies such as salami, cold meat, cabanossi, sosaties and anything you might require.

HUNTING
Burger jr. is our huntsman. He has been hunting on Syferfontein from the age of ten and gained firsthand knowledge of animal behaviour, footprints and tracking. He refined his bush sense by completing courses in Professional Hunting and Bow Hunting. With a specialist course in Meat & Abattoir Hygiene and Processing, he has truly become a venison enthusiast.
GAME
Kudu, Wildebeest, Impala and Warthog are most abundant on the farm. Other species available are Red Hartebeest, Waterbuck, Bushbuck, Eland, Zebra, Reedbuck, Nyala, Steenbok, Duiker and Blesbuck. Apart from the 14 species of game specified on our price list, we have species seldom seen like the small spotted cat, cerval, pangolin, honey badgers and the occasional leopard. Game birds like guinea fowl and francolin abound. The exceptional variety of trees makes Syferfontein a real bird and insect paradise and the farm has often been visited by members of the Dendrological Society of
ACCOMMODATION
Our camp lies in a crescent-shaped stone amphitheatre. We wanted our guests to experience the beauty of the bushveld, therefore the tambotie trees on the rocky outcrop cradling the camp were left untouched.
Our main complex serves as a kitchen, dining room, bar and entertainment area. The two four-bed chalets and three two-bed tents can accommodate a total of 14 guests. The old-fashioned architecture with its thick stone walls and thatched roofs is ideal to control climate extremes. The camp is very secluded and private, 8 Km from the farmhouse. We really went to great lengths to make this the ideal hideaway.
